The OFA Annual Dinner, the flagship event for WBGS alumni, once again brought together former pupils for an evening of camaraderie, reflection, and celebration.
This prestigious occasion offered the perfect opportunity to reconnect with old school friends and enjoy the unique atmosphere of a black-tie dinner in familiar surroundings.
The highlight of the evening was a captivating speech from special guest David Westhead, who attended Watford Grammar School for Boys from 1974 to 1981. A leading actor with The Royal Shakespeare Company, The Royal National Theatre and The Royal Court Theatre, David shared stories from his distinguished career on stage and screen, offering insights into his collaborations with some of the most acclaimed writers and directors in British theatre.
His extensive film and television credits include Mrs Brown, Donovan Quick, Gideon’s Daughter, The Lost Prince, The Lakes, and The Iron Lady. David has also appeared in a wide range of UK and US television productions including Doctor Who, Foyle’s War, Midsomer Murders, Poirot and Lewis. More recently, he starred as Henry Lyon in Enola Holmes 2 on Netflix and will soon appear in Alice and JK Rowling’s Ink Black Heart.
Guests enjoyed a five-course silver service dinner, with pre-dinner drinks, a raffle, and contributions from both the Headmaster and the Chairman of the Association, reflecting on the School and the Old Fullerians’ community. The evening concluded with drinks from the bar, kindly operated by Fullerians RFC.
We were delighted to welcome both alumni and invited guests, and thank everyone who helped make the evening such a success.
We look forward to welcoming you to next year’s dinner.
