Why we ask parents to give - the difference you can make.

Students at Watford Grammar School will experience a journey through secondary education at one of the top state schools in the country. The most recent Ofsted inspection rated WBGS as ‘Outstanding’ in every category – an extraordinary accolade. The facilities at the School are first class and our highly qualified and passionate staff are truly exceptional. However, this incredible provision does come at a cost, which cannot be met by Government funding alone.

The day-to-day budget of the school continues to face real pressures. The Government has introduced a National Funding Formula for schools and although this has increased the amount that we receive in grants, it fails to cover the additional external cost pressures that the School faces, many of which are outside the School’s control. In particular, the increasing operating costs of the school have been heavily impacted by the price of energy. We are seeking to reduce these costs by implementing energy saving strategies and technologies, including a new air source heat pump and LED lights. We also seek to maximise our income in several ways including through lettings and sponsorship. However, these strategies alone are not enough. Parental contributions are one of our greatest tools in bridging this gap.

We invite all parents to make a regular voluntary monthly contribution.

If you are a UK taxpayer then, with Gift Aid, your donations give us an extra 25p for every £1 you give, so please ensure you check the box.
